Call for Papers

Academic and Industry Papers are invited for the Australian Institute of Project Management National Conference 2013.The theme of the conference is Project Management – Changing the World.Papers will be reviewed and presented within the program from participants who submit under the Papers Guidelines. Academic papers will be double blind reviewed, published in a monograph in conjunction with Cambridge Scholars Publishing and industry papers will be reviewed by the Committee. If you wish to submit a paper for consideration, you must also intend to register for the conference.

Online submission is the only method of receipt of papers. Papers up to 10 pages long are to include a 350-word summary required for proceedings.

Paper submissions are now being called for oral presentations. We would like to invite submissions around, but not restricted to the following sub-themes:

  • Health, Safety, Environment and Community
Many projects now need to take Health, Safety, Environment and Community into consideration as a part of the planning and stakeholder engagement activities for triple bottom line consideration. Share your experiences in how and why Project Managers cannot afford to ignore the potential negative and positive risks these considerations can provide.
  • Communities of Practice – Methodologies and Case Studies
Project Management in practice: Agile, Waterfall, Prince2, Critical Path, Critical Chain, what’s right for what projects? Can you use Agile to build a rail line? This is a stream for practitioners and pracademics to encourage further development in the knowledge bank of Project Management. Why, when and where the tool is right for the task under your control (or where the tool is not right for a particular application).
  • Agents of Change – Cultural and Operational Change Management
Change is the only constant, but no one said it was easy! Tell the world how you lead the team that brought about cultural or operational practice change.
  • Talented PM – Leadership, Inspiration
Project Managers are leaders, this stream is looking for the presenters to inspire us to be better than average. You could be a pracademic or a motivational speaker or just someone who has a lot of people asking you “how do I do this?”.
  • PM Excellence – RegPM, Tools and Technologies
The profession of Project Management continues to gain acceptance and real relevance. This stream caters for the introduction and development of tool usage and the Registered Project Manager program updates.
  • Futurewise – What’s next for the world of P3Ms?
Where does the project management body of knowledge need to go? What are the legal, management and leadership requirements for Project Managers in the future? Clients or users of Project Managers, what do we need from you to guide the development of the Australian Institute of Project Management?
  • Industry Sector – Information Technology, Mining, Construction, Roads and Rail, and many others
Project Management in action across the myriad of industries where our discipline is applied. In this stream we are looking for industry specific examples of excellence and why employing a Project Manager is the right thing to do. Tell us what and where you did it.
